Tom Roy Youth Guidance Home

The Tom Roy Home is a long-term therapeutic group home that serves young people aging out of foster care. The program offers older teens training and support to transition successfully into adulthood and, in many cases, exit child protective services, youth court, or correctional services. The issues these young people face include failure to find permanence in a family, chemical abuse, emotional turmoil, or incarceration. This home accepts youth ages 16 and 17 and serves them until emancipation.

Tom Roy

Tom joined the Youth Homes board when he moved to Missoula in 1974. He quickly became an integral part of our first home, serving as the chair of the administrative committee and later as board president. In 1979, we named our home on Central Avenue after Tom to honor his dedication and tireless work on behalf of children. His statement best demonstrates his commitment that what is most important to him in life is “that my sons would look back and say I had been a good father.”
