Birnbaum Youth Home
This therapeutic shelter is set to open in September 2026.
The Birnbaum Youth Home supports youth in crisis, providing safety, stability, and healing for youth aged 12 to 17. This therapeutic shelter is designed to help kids who would otherwise end up in an emergency room, a jail cell, a psychiatric unit, or the floor of a social worker’s office. Here, they can achieve stability, continue their education, maintain connections to support systems, access mental and physical health services, and work toward regaining a sense of normalcy and belonging.
Legacy Details

Geoff Birnbaum
Geoff lived a life filled with tremendous passion and dedication to others. He spent 42 years as our executive director. After his retirement, he remained deeply involved with Youth Homes. Geoff was enthusiastic about building a new therapeutic shelter and served on the capital campaign committee. Unfortunately, Geoff died suddenly in 2025, and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor him than to dedicate the Birnbaum Youth Home in his memory.
