Meet the Flathead Youth Home
A unique place in the heart of of the Flathead Valley.
The Flathead Youth Home is located in a residential neighborhood in downtown Kalispell. Our youth can walk to the park, ride bikes for ice cream, or simply enjoy being part of the community.
But how did we get to where we are now?
Learn more about the Flathead Youth Home, our history, and impact in this newsletter.

The Flathead Youth Home (FYH) began in 1997 when local community members saw a critical need for a safe, stable place for young people experiencing crisis. Before that time, many youth had to leave the Flathead Valley to access care. They often ended up in distant cities where they were far from home, school, and familiarity.
Our founders envisioned something different. They saw the potential for a home right here in the community, where kids could stay connected to the people and places that matter most. With 8 beds and a dedicated staff team, FYH was built to be more than a shelter. It was built to be a place of belonging, safety, and healing.
Since then, we’ve moved locations, but our mission to help the youth who need it most has stayed the same. We’ve served over 3,700 youth, each with their own story, their own strengths, and their own journey.
